Highfields Barn

Highfields Barn is a great place to stay, providing flexible accommodation to meet the needs of your holiday and the number of people within your group. The barn can accommodate either 2,4,6 or 8 guests. You are able to book just the rooms which you require. These are individually priced for the number in your group. Please see pricing & info below for further details.

For those wishing to book a short break these are available as a 3 night minimum stay commencing on either a Friday or a Saturday.

With records of the farm dating back to the 1600’s, Highfields Barn was originally used to house livestock during the winter months with hay stored above. In 2005 we slowly began renovating the stone barn to provide self catering holiday accommodation and opened in 2016 for guests to enjoy.

Facilities

KITCHEN
As you enter the property you are greeted by a traditional Oak farmhouse kitchen with dining area, beamed ceilings and granite worktops. The kitchen is well equipped with a gas hob, electric oven & grill. Microwave, toaster, dishwasher, fridge with ice box (additional small freezer available in the utility), slow cooker, stovetop kettle and a good selection including items for little ones, of crockery, cutlery, glassware & kitchen utensils for all your culinary needs.

Located in the utility are a washing machine, iron & ironing board, recycling facilities, general cleaning equipment & a disposable barbecue to be used on the stone plinth on the outdoor area.

A welcome pack is also provided for all the information you should need during your stay.

LOUNGE
A lovely cosy room for you to relax in after your days exploring or just take time to relax in front of the log burning stove. A starter pack of logs, coal, kindling are provided. Further supplies can be purchased from the farmhouse a little further down the track.

Equipped with a television, DVD player WiFi and a selection of board games, books & toys to suit all ages.  A number of leaflets, maps and walking guides are also available to help you plan your stay.

BEDROOMS/SHOWER ROOM

  • 2 guests can exclusively book the ground floor of the barn. Bedroom 1 a super king room with separate shower room.
  • 2 guests who wish to have separate rooms can also book Bedroom 2, located on the first floor. This room can either be a super king or twin room on request. It also has a separate shower room.
  • 4 guests – Can book bedroom 1 and 2 as above.
  • 6 guests – can book bedroom 1,2 and 3. (Bedroom 3 is a super king room with ensuite shower room)
  • 8 guests – Can book bedrooms 1,2,3 and 4. (Bedroom 4 is a twin room)
  • All bed linen & towels are provided.
  • Travel cot & bedding are also available on request.
  • A hairdryer is provided in each bedroom.

OUTSIDE AREA
Relax and enjoy, the private south facing stone flagged area in front of the barn. A picnic bench is provided for you to sit and enjoy the peace & quiet & the views across the valley, whilst having a bite to eat with a glass of wine or planning your next adventure

  • Parking and vehicle access

    The barn is accessed via a stoned farm track which is just under a mile long, unsuitable for low slung vehicles. In winter conditions, a 4×4 vehicle is advisable or snow socks/chains. (should you get caught out by snow during your stay, we do have a selection of snow socks available for you to borrow) Private off road parking for up to 3 cars

    Charging of electric cars is not available at this property

Prices & Availability

Changeover day is a Saturday with arrival from 4pm. Vacation of the property is required no later than 10am.

The barn can accommodate either 2, 4, 6 or 8 guests. You are able to book the rooms which you require, individually priced for the number in your group.

Short breaks are available. Prices ranging form £325 – £975 based on a 3 night stay for 2 – 8 guests. Please enquire.

For those wishing to book a stay at Highfields Barn for the season, the changeover day for a week’s stay is a Saturday.  For those wishing to book a short break they are available as a 3 night minimum stay commencing on either a Friday or Saturday.

If we don’t have availability on your chosen dates, you may find availability at our Herdwick Barn instead.

2 guests can exclusively book the lower floor of the barn.  2 guests who wish to have separate rooms can book bedroom 2, located on the upper floor.
