Herdwick Barn

Located in the beautiful Peak District, Herdwick Barn is a beautiful adjoining stone barn which has been lovingly renovated and opened to guests in 2017.

Originally, during the 1970’s, the old milking parlour and farm featured in the BBC2  Tv series ‘Living on the Land’ with the late farmer Len Ward & his family.

Herdwick Barn is available to book all year round and can accommodate 2-4 guests. Short breaks are also available to book from a Friday, a minimum of a 3 night stay.

Facilities

ENTRANCE PORCH
On entering the barn an area to store & dry your outdoor clothing & boots, with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.

LOUNGE
Onwards into the lounge where you are greeted by a cosy beamed relaxing room with a stunning stone fireplace and wood burning stove. With views across the farmland & countryside to the rear of the barn. A starter pack of logs, coal & kindling is provided. Further supplies can be purchased from the farmhouse. There is a TV & DVD player and a selection of books, boards games & toys to suit all age ranges. A number of leaflets, maps & walking guides are also available to help you plan your stay.

KITCHEN
Through into the Oak farmhouse kitchen with dining area, beamed ceilings & granite worktops. A lovely place to relax and enjoy an evening meal together.  The kitchen is well equipped with a gas hob, electric oven & grill. Microwave, toaster, dishwasher, fridge with ice box (additional small freezer available in the utility), slow cooker, stovetop kettle and a good selection, including items for little ones, of crockery, cutlery, glassware & kitchen utensils for all your culinary needs. Located in the utility are a washing machine, iron & ironing board, recycling facilities, general cleaning equipment & a disposable barbecue to be used on the stone plinth on the outdoor area. A welcome pack is also provided for all the information you should need during your stay.

UPSTAIRS
Main bedroom with king size bed with traditional pine furniture, seating area & shuttered windows. A wonderful peaceful room to relax.

A twin room is also available which can be a king on request again with traditional pine furniture, shutters and beams throughout the upper floor.

BATHROOM
Family Bathroom with bath with overhead shower, basin & toilet. All rooms upstairs are either heated by electric radiators or if the wood burner is lit this will heat the additional radiators and the hot water. There is also an immersion

  • Parking and vehicle access

    The barn is accessed via a stoned farm track which is just under a mile long, unsuitable for low slung vehicles. In winter conditions, a 4×4 vehicle is advisable or snow socks/chains. (should you get caught out by snow during your stay, we do have a selection of snow socks available for you to borrow) Private off road parking for up to 2 cars

    Highchair, travel cot, stairgates & fireguard on request

  • Underfloor heating

    Underfloor heating will help keep your feet toastie!

  • Water

    Supplied by the farm’s private natural borehole. Bottled water for drinking will be provided for your stay.

    Free WIFI Available. Mobile signal may be intermittent due to the location

  • Provisions

    A variety of shops can be found in Leek 4 miles away and a lovely pub serving delicious food 2 miles away

  • Pets

    Sorry no pets allowed

  • Smoking

    Cigarettes and E-cigs are prohibited in or outside the property

  • Electric Vehicle Charging

    Charging of electric cars is not available at this property

Prices & Availability

Changeover day is a Friday with arrival from 4pm. Vacation of the property is required no later than 10am.

Short breaks are also available to book from a Friday; a minimum of a 3 night stay. Prices from £350 -£555 based on a 3 night stay up to 4 guests.
