About Us
Welcome to Highfields Farm. It has been quite an adventure how we found ourselves running a farm in the beautiful Peak District. We always dreamt for years about owning a barn & a small piece of land.
In 2003 we sold our house & rented a farmhouse across the valley from where we are now. This enabled us to attend auctions, unfortunately we had no success, until one day we heard a cottage over on the hill had been empty for some years & was for sale. In 2004 we trundled down the mile long farm track to meet the owner, not knowing that our lives were about to change & a new chapter begin.
We were happy here, spent many weekends repairing fences & dry-stone walls. We bought our first flock of Herdwick sheep and continued to work full time. Nev a joiner by trade & myself a countryside ranger.
In 2007 we were given the opportunity to purchase Highfields Farm, just a little further down the track. Years ago, the farm & cottage were part of a larger farm, of which there is a fascinating history.
Over the years we have worked hard & achieved above & beyond anything we could have ever imagined. We have learnt new skills along the way & we now tend our flock of Herdwick sheep & have lovingly restored two old stone barns – Herdwick Barn and Highfields Barn. These provide accommodation for guests to enjoy the beautiful Peak District National Park & experience life on the farm.
We would love to share this special place with you & all it has to offer. A warm friendly welcome awaits you…
